A Day of Simple Giving From Home
November 21, 2020
For the past 13 years, Grassroot Givers has hosted our annual community service event, ‘A Day of Simple Giving’. Each year our donors, volunteers, local nonprofits and community businesses join together to collect donations and create practical items to directly fill a need in our community. At the end of the day, the results have been nothing short of amazing. Thanks to your contributions to this event, over $30,000 worth of goods are shared with individuals and families right here in the Capital Region every year.
While we can’t all gather in person due to Covid-19, we can still work together remotely toward our shared goal of giving with dignity and empowering lives in the Capital Region. This year, we will be hosting a virtual event: A Day of Simple Giving From Home. Individuals, families, and community groups that can gather safely are invited to participate in this event and film your work. We will highlight your contributions in a video to be shared on our social media sites on Saturday, November 21st. Like most years, we are expecting over 1500 volunteers to collect and donate in preparation of the event, including 350 participants who help turn these donated goods into gifts for our community. We hope you will join us to make a difference in the Capital Region.
How to get involved?
We are asking groups to support the work we do throughout the year by helping to raise $100 per group. This will go a long way to fill the gap in our fundraising budget due to cancelled events. Grassroot Givers supports individuals and families transitioning from a shelter to a new apartment with basic essentials- clothing and housewares- and continues to share books with those who don’t have access to them. We couldn’t do this work without the generous support of people like you!
We are asking groups to select a station, coordinate a collection drive, and assemble these items. Please see the list of stations and participation form (below) for you to indicate how you would like to participate. You can fill out the form and email it to email@example.com.
Please send us a picture or short 20 second video of you/your group collecting or assembling the kits.
Have some fun - make a sign, decorate your table with your name on it.
If you do not want your name to appear in our video, we will use "volunteer."
If you would like more details or have any questions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are looking forward to hearing from you!
