A Day of Simple Giving is our annual community service event where people from across the Capital District (and beyond) make practical “gifts” of basic essentials that we share directly with the community and our partner agencies. The way we give makes a difference, which is why our volunteers take the extra time to present donations as beautiful gifts to ensure that individuals and families who are in need of extra support feel valued.
Stations are what we call the different volunteer options, which we chose to address specific needs in the community. Please scroll through the list of stations and their descriptions (below), then follow the link to the google form to sign up.
Participation will be remote again this year. Please send pictures of your work to email@example.com to be included in our Virtual Event Video that will be released on November 20th, 2021.
We are also asking each participating group to make a financial donation of $100 to support the work we do throughout the year. We are seeing a huge demand for our services due to the ongoing challenges of COVID19, growing numbers of people experiencing poverty in the Capital District, and the new refugee crisis. We collect donations of beautiful, like-new clothing, housewares, and books that we distribute throughout the community free of charge. We’ve supported thousands of families over the last 12 years, sharing clothing with individuals and helping families move out of a shelter and set up their new apartment. We’ve also distributed more than 450,000 books in the Capital Region to date.
Your ongoing support makes everything we do possible.
